Welcome Coach Louise!  Coach Louise joins us as the new Pole Vault Coach, we are excited to have you!

The focus for this week is “Industriousness”.  As stated by John Wooden himself, “In plain language, I mean that you have to work- and work hard.  There is no substitute for work. NONE. Worthwhile things come only from real work”

NNHS Track up & running!

The 2012 Track Season is definitely under way.  After a week and a half we can officially say we are in business! Workouts have consisted of early morning circuits that truly make those muscles and lungs burn to hill workouts in the brisk winter weather.  The 2012 Girls’ Team is truly in it for the long haul and it shows with the daily work ethic and focus the coaches have seen and

expressed.

While we continue to build the foundation of this year, it is important to keep in mind the significance of your efforts and attitude.

Each practice, each drill, each stretch should be done with precision and purpose.  It is the work we put in now that will separate us from other teams as we compete.

Each individual is vital to the building and hopeful success of this program.  So ask yourself, what can I do in the next few weeks to better my team and better myself?

If you are new to the program, WELCOME! We are so happy to see new faces and look forward to working with each one of you.  Do not be afraid to ask questions or meet new people.

Senior Alexa Considine said it best when asked what track has meant to her when she stated, “I am looking forward to this season to start new traditions and become a competitive successful team”.

Team Lock-in, starting a new tradition

It is tradition that each year the athletes of the NNHS girls track team come together for a team lock-in.  The focus of this event is to build team rapport, establish team goals and targets and to start the season off with high energy. Each year the girls create activities and events that make for a fun and memorable night.  We are hoping to keep that alive but with a new and crazy approach.

The Lock-in for the 2012 season is scheduled for Friday, March 2nd and will start at 7pm.  The Lock-in this year will be an all night event.  The lock-in will run similar to a Relay for Life. Girls will work with teams to run a continuous relay through the night.

 Where and why you ask?

In efforts to raise funds for the track program  our athletes will work to find

sponsors who will donate a certain amount for each lap they complete during the night.  Each athlete will run at least three times during the night.  The relay will occur in the Field House and we will have fun events and activities throughout the night to keep the girls pumped and excited. Other activities include: exhibition jumps in the field house, pool time during the midnight hours, movies in the wrestling balcony, and dodge ball tournaments.

The girls will be busy from 7pm, March 2nd with defining team goals and targets and will be entertained with running and events throughout the night.  Athletes can be picked up at 7am on March. 3rd.
